Advances in computer vision for automotive safety have been incredible, but this excellent article from the Wall Street Journal highlights some inherent limitations of the state-of-the-art vision systems deployed in vehicles today… they can’t really “see” well in the dark or in bad weather.
American Automobile Association (AAA) just released a study that highlighted the ADAS pedestrian-safety features provided by a number of automotive OEMs do not perform consistently and mainly fail in dark conditions.
This is a fundamental problem for the industry that Algolux is solving with our Eos robust perception software and we’re working with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers to address these limitations, both for ADAS and autonomous vehicles.
Eos massively improves perception accuracy under harsh conditions, such as darkness and adverse weather. See some video clips of Eos working in these scenarios in my recent blog HERE.
As always, drive safely and I look forward to your questions and comments!
